Finding Solace

In the blurred lines of laughter

where one story melts into another

a flurry of memories hastening to not be forgotten



In bodies of fur, soft and fluffy

peacefully sleeping and oblivious

so content with only themselves



In rice, sticky clumps together rolled

deep green seaweed dissolves into umami

melting salmon and the seasand scent of prawn



In greying hair and sharp wit

Daily, dealing with the ways of the world

Making light of the heavy, keeping us afloat



In all things, everyone finds their custard

Their warm, surrounding, comforting blankie

On rainy, winter nights, to wrap around.
